the curl of your smile, the softening of your eyes

how i long for these moments

when love shines from corvid claws.

how fragile they be, or their cause, i know not.

i live for them nontheless

breathe and expire by your eyes

speared in love and loss, agony and ecstasy

when they soften, deepen and embrace

i tumble to vitreous humor

virtuous and humble as i’m able

gratitude a beacon for my dogeared days

why must i live on?

endlessly, i petition the cosmos for stasis

at the moment when i have yet to fuck up

why must the world turn into the future

can i not rest?
